Viessmann
Over 50% reduction of manual work with SAP-native automation.
“Thanks to a very competent team, the integration from CA-7 was implemented within two days. The transition took place without any frictional losses. Due to the greater flexibility, we can activate more elaborate process chains in the workflow.”

Background
Viessmann is a global leader in heating, climate, and cooling solutions, serving residential and commercial customers worldwide. As a technology-driven manufacturer, the company relies on a highly integrated SAP landscape to manage missioncritical business processes across finance, production, logistics, and human resources.
Viessmann IT Service GmbH serves as the central IT provider for the entire Viessmann Group, delivering enterprise applications and digital services to support global operations.
As the company grew and its SAP environment evolved — from SAP R/2 to R/3 and later to SAP S/4HANA — ensuring transparency, scalability, and operational efficiency across SAP background processes became increasingly critical.
Challenges
Viessmann has relied on the Stonebranch SAP job scheduling solution for over 20 years.
Prior to Stonebranch, Viessmann faced structural limitations with its external scheduling solution, CA-7, during the transition from SAP R/2 to SAP R/3:
- No SAP-native integration
- Limited visibility into complex, dependent job chains
- High manual effort and staffing requirements
Viessman decided to address these challenges and migrate to Stonebranch for a future-proof automation framework. This decision not only met the immediate requirements at the time but also proved sustainable decades later during the company’s transition to SAP S/4HANA.
The Solution
Viessmann implemented the Stonebranch solution as a fully SAP-integrated workload automation platform to centrally manage and orchestrate its growing number of background processes.
Today, 5,300 SAP jobs comprising 11,500 individual steps are automated and centrally monitored. Despite significant company growth over the past two decades, Viessmann requires only one to two employees to manage its job scheduling environment. Prior to the introduction of the Stonebranch solution, three to four employees were needed to oversee comparable processes.
By significantly reducing manual effort, the automation framework has enabled IT staff to focus on higher-value initiatives rather than routine operational tasks.
The Results
Today, the Stonebranch solution supports mission-critical SAP operations across Viessmann’s global organization. Automated background processes include invoicing across more than 50 sales organizations, order management, production planning (MRP), warehouse control, HR time management, and FI/CO.
By embedding workload automation directly within SAP, Viessmann has achieved full transparency across complex and interdependent process chains. Centralized monitoring, structured job validation, and graphical workflow visibility have significantly reduced error rates while improving operational reliability.
The long-term stability of the Stonebranch SAP job scheduling solution has enabled Viessmann to scale its business without increasing operational complexity. This strategic decision proved especially valuable during the migration to SAP S/4HANA, which was completed smoothly and without disruption to business-critical processes.
After more than 20 years of continuous use, the Stonebranch solution remains a core component of Viessmann’s SAP strategy — delivering sustainable efficiency, process control, and future-ready scalability.
Viessmann
To overcome the limitations of its external scheduler, Viessmann adopted Stonebranch for fully integrated SAP workload automation. The result: 50% less manual effort, centralized control of 5,300 SAP jobs, and a seamless transition to SAP S/4HANA.
